==Background==
[[Kampfgruppe von Tettau]] commanded SS-Wachbataillon 3. This battalion was created in 1.1.1942 for the mission of guarding the perimeters of German concentration camps in the Netherlands. This was manned by Dutchmen and a company of Ukrainians. These dutchmen were either escaping Dutch Forced labor or trip to the east or were not physical fit for frontline service. This battalion had multiple complaints to the military police about their behavior. During Market Garden, SS-Wachbataillon 3 were sent to repel the airborne landing but due to the lack of military training were crushed by the British airborne.

This battalion was equipped with weapons captured from the Dunkirk evacuation.
