S.MG 34 is a German Infantry unit.

A machine-gun emplacement with the MG 34 general purpose machine gun. In German infantry doctrine, the machine gun was the principal element of a platoon, with other troops protecting the gunner, rather than the usual doctrine where the machine gun supported other troops.
Heavy Company of a Grenadier Battalion has Machine Gun Platoon with six being concentrated in a single Platoon of three Sections while the Rifle Company has a Machine Gun Section.
