RGR M1919 MMG is a United States Infantry unit.

Overview

A Ranger machine gun team, intended to provide other Ranger units with fire support, in major contrast with the German doctrine, where infantry squads are built around MG 34 and MG 42 machine guns. Each Ranger Platoon has two assault section and a weapon section. The assault section was divided into a five man assault element, a five man machine gun element equipped with M1919 and a Section leader. Machine Gun element has a NCO, gunner, loader and ammunition bearers.
