When the Wehrmacht took over the 16. Luftwaffe into a light infantry division a Fusilier Battalion (Luftwaffe-Füsilier-Battalion 16) was created. These like the Wehrmacht counterparts were supposed to be a more mobile infantry battalion for recon and counterattacks. Unlike their Wehrmacht counterparts, Lw-Füsilier were equipped with second line gear like the MP 28 and MG 15. MP 28 Bergmann was the improved model of the MP 18.
