- For the Steel Division II unit see SD2:Ersatztruppen
Ersatztruppen is a German Infantry unit.
Overview[]
Ersatztruppen are replacement troops from Feldersatz-Bataillon of the Wehrmacht, pressed into front line service in Normandy. These troops were straight out off basic training in Germany and were placed in the Divisional Feldersatz-Bataillon to get trained in training according to the area of operations, weapons handling, tactics before being sent to their units. As their purpose is training replacement soldiers for line units, rather than participating in direct combat, they understandably lack the training necessary to withstand the pressures of combat. In that same measure of they are not equipped for competing with the majority of Allied infantry.
Ersatztruppen represent Panzer-Ersatz-und-Ausbildungs-Abteilung 100's two training infantry companies.[1]
Strategy[]
These units are the optimal meatshields, and are great for holding ground, delaying attacks, and triggering enemy fire (either revealing their positions if recon is unavailable or distracting them so that more valuable units can deal damage). Ersatztruppen are great for filling gaps and taking fire, but perform poorly in virtually every other area.Click here to add a strategy!
