CMDO K-Gun is a Commando Infantry unit.
Overview[]
A British Commando fire support team, equipped with the Vickers K-Gun or Vickers G.O. (Gas Operated). The weapon itself was derived from the No. 1 aircraft machine guns for RAF airfield defense units. The resulting No. 2 Mk. 1 Land Service machine gun featured a short stock, pistol grip with the trigger below the receiver, a fore end or a folding carrying handle, and a folding bipod. The fan magazine mounted on top was retained. The light weight of the design and its firepower resulted in a number of units used by Commandos and other reconnaissance units operating in Europe between 1944 and 1945.
