Walküre is a Germany Infantry unit in Steel Division II.
Background[]
Walküre was a emergency plan of the Ersatzheer to quickly form units from training units and soldiers on home leave usually infantry for the Feldheer. This plan was hijacked by the July 20th Plot conspirators to take control of Berlin and arrest the SS and government officials under the pretense of Hitler's death.[1] Unlike normal Ersatzheer operations, Walküre created units instead of sending reinforcements to corresponding front line unit.
541st Grenadier-Division in the Vistula Army General was created from Walküre units.
A Grenadier-Brigade either 1131 or 1132 served along side Fallschirm-Panzer "Hermann Göring" since the Fallschirm-Panzer "Hermann Göring" during the movement to the front fought in the Warsaw uprising. This brigade was equipped with 10 companies of infantry along with a artillery battery. These units received MP-44 even before regular formations got theirs.
They are home guard (Interior Army) units raised in emergency through the Valkyrie (Walküre) plan. You may have heard of it through Operation Valkyrie, which was the codename for the planned assassination of Hitler by von Stauffenberg and his co-conspirators. The operation was named that way because it was a legit German high command plan which the conspirators turned against Hitler and his government.
And the emergency home guard units raised for this occasion were also dubbed "Walküre" units.
About a week after the failed plot, many of this units were regrouped into regiments and brigades and sent East towards Poland.
Don't be mistaken, although home guard, they are good and well-equipped units. But you won't be able to take them with any experience.
