The unit represents Captain József Kovács of the 101. Honi Légvédelmi Vadászrepülő Osztály (101st Home Air Defence Fighter Wing), also called the Puma, after its distinctive unit insignia. Formed in 1944, the wing focused on securing air superiority and protecting the Hungarian homeland. Kovacs has the distinction not in kills, but in resilience: He survived over 100 combat missions, against an overwhelming Soviet advantage in aircraft and pilots.
