Lw-Jäger is a German Infantry unit in Steel Division II.
Background[]
Lw-Jäger are excess Luftwaffe personnel converted to conventional infantry. Unlike the their volunteer counterparts in Division Meindl in the Eastern Front, Lw-Jäger in Normandy was lead not by experienced paratroopers but by officers who were not trained in large scale infantry combat. These infantry were equipped with second rate gear. Faustpatrone was the forerunner of the more famous Panzerfaust. MG 15 was originally designed to serve as defensive weapon for aircraft. MG 15 became obsolete as aircraft weapon since 7.92mm were not effective against the up armoring of aircraft during World War II and were converted for infantry use.
In game 3. Fallschirmjäger, Lw-Jäger represent II. FlaK-Korps and other Luftwaffe Field units that were attached to the Division which in real life never happened. With update Steel Division 2: Men of Steel, these Lw-Jäger would represent disbanded 16. Lw-Felddivision personnel reinforcing 21. Panzer.
16. Luftwaffe had three Luftwaffe-Jägerregiment each with two battalions Luftwaffe-Jägerregiment 31, Luftwaffe-Jägerregiment 32 and Luftwaffe-Jägerregiment 46.
Lw-Jager represent Luftwaffe personnel who found trapped themselves in Festung Dünkirchen and Festung Groß-Paris.

Strategy[]
My experience using Lw-Jäger[]
These groups are best attached with Flak guns or other Panzer units, cause their morale is relatively lower than other common ground troop unit, like Panzer-Grenadiers. Don`t put them into major battle directions unless you have no other choice, as you may see them collapsing so quickly under Russian fires. And if you have some Feldgendarmerie units, it would be better to place some around these Lw-Jägers, as those shinning dog-tags will significantly "boost" Lw-Jägers morale. In all, Lw-Jägers are my last choice to fill the battle line, if we don`t take those Osttruppen in account.
