Landesschützen Ost is a German Infantry unit in Steel Division II.
Background[]
Landesschützen were soldiers from the 30 to 45 age group who were too old or unfit for front line service. These troops were not offensive troops with their role is to provide internal security. Unlike their Western counterparts who had a quiet war until the Normandy Invasion, these Landesschützen had to fight partisans with captured or older equipment.
Korück 559 commanded various Landesschützen battalions which were originally doing the rear security mission.
Panzerdivision Tatra were able to call on Landesschützen Battalions raised from local Volksdeutschen. Kampfgruppe Ohlen had three Landesschützen Battalions Landesschützen-Batallion 1/373t , Landesschützen-Batallion II/1, and Landesschützen-Batallion I/8
