GrW 50mm Uses[ | ]

The GrW 50mm mortar unit is a 2-man, medium-range indirect fire support weapon attached to infantry platoons.

Its best use is on the front lines supporting infantry and it easily keeps pace on the march. It has a 520 meter range which means the unit will be shoulder to shoulder with infantry squads, but with a high rate of fire and large ammo supply, it can quickly help achieve fire superiority.

When your infantry squads engage the enemy, the GrW 50mm will erupt with rapid salvos of 50mm high-explosive mortar rounds.

While the 81mm & 120mm mortars have higher HE calibers and longer range, they have a sluggish response time compared to the the GrW 50mm. When seconds can mean victory or defeat, the GrW 50mm is designed to provide nearly instant indirect-fire support while your larger mortars are still aiming.

Lightweight, fast, with a good rate of fire and the ability to lay smoke, the GrW 50mm brings unique mortar support to infantry in action.

The smoke ability has a small scatter and is intended to cover local squad maneuvers or blind a high-value enemy unit i.e, a machine gun position. Because of its range and ammunition, it's more versatile than hand-thrown smoke grenades, but you'll need to rely on your larger mortars and artillery for medium to large smoke screens.

The GrW50mm is an inexpensive way to increase the survivability, firepower, and versatility of your infantry platoons.
