Grupy Szturmowe is a Polish Infantry unit in Steel Division II.

Background[ | ]

The Grupy Szturmowe (Assault Groups) were elite combat units of the Home Army, comprising nearly 300 fighters drawn from the oldest members of the Szare Szeregi , the militarized, underground Polish Scouting Association. Aged 17 and above, Grupy Szturmowe were trained for combat, sabotage, and subversive operations at secret NCO schools.

They formed the backbone of the Home Army's special forces, carrying out assassinations, liberating prisoners, blowing up Nazi facilities, and eventually forming one of the most formidable and highly motivated combat units participating in the failed Warsaw Uprising. Equipped with captured German weapons and materiel, including eichlaubmuster camouflage smocks captured from the Stawka Street SS stores, the GS ended up being one of the most successful units on the Polish side of the Uprising.
