Aufklärer is a German Recon unit in Steel Division II.

Background

Each Grenadier Regiment has a bicycle Platoon in the Regimental Headquarters that serves as the regiment reconnaissance asset. While the Pz.Grenadier Regiment has a Reconnaissance Platoon.

20. Panzer's Panzer Aufklarungs Abteilung 20 was at that time in Tr.Ub.Pl. Wildflecken for reorganization and rearming so the Panzer Division had to depend on regimental Reconnaissance platoons.

The Aufklarungs Abteilung in the Panzer and Panzergrenadier Divisions has two to three reconnaissance companies mounted in either Sd.Kfz. 250/1 in Panzer DIvisions or motorized in Panzergrenadier Divisions.

Panzer Brigade 101 of Panzerverband Strachwitz has a Aufklarungs platoon along with SS-Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung "Gross" from SS Panzer Brigade "Gross".
