97/38M 75mm is a Hungarian Anti-tank unit in Steel Division II.
Background[ | ]
The Pak 97/38 was a captured French Canon de 75 modèle 1897 using a Swiss Solothurn muzzle brake mounted on a Pak 38 carriage. During the invasion of France and Poland, German Forces captured thousands of Canon de 75 modèle 1897. These were used in the field artillery role until the T-34 and KV-1 encounters in Operation Barbarossa. The standard 3.7 cm Pak 36 Anti-tank gun was not effective against the newer Soviet armor and the new Pak 40 anti-tank gun was not available in large numbers.
Hungarian Forces received 43 for these Anti-tank guns over the course of the war.
