6-pdr entered Canadian service in 1942 replacing the obsolete 2-pdr in 3rd Anti-tank Regiment RCA and Infantry Battalions Anti-Tank Platoons.
3rd Anti-tank Regiment RCA has three batteries which had two troops of four 6-pdrs and another troop equipped with M10s. Each Infantry battalion Anti-tank Platoon has six 6-pdrs. The Motor Battalion of 4th Canadian Armored Division has three anti-tank platoon in the support company.
