36M was Hungarian-built version of the German GrW 36.
These were used in the Mortar Company of infantry regiment and Heavy Machine gun Company in the infantry battalions of 12. Tartalék. 25. Hadosztály had their 81mm Mortars in the Heavy Machine gun Company in the infantry battalions and a Mortar company of 4 120mm mortars and 4 81mm in planned Reconnaissance Battalion.
1. Lovas was planned to have a mounted medium mortar platoon in Hussar Battalion. Armored Reconnaissance Battalion was planned to have 8 81mm mortars along with 4 120mm mortars. 15. Bicycle Battalion was planned to have 8 81mm Mortars in the Heavy Company.
2. Páncélos was planned to have a motorized heavy company in the motorized infantry battalions. Armored Reconnaissance Battalion was planned to have 8 81mm mortars along with 4 120mm mortars.
