DCA M16 is a French Anti-air unit.

Overview[edit | edit source]

The M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage was a self-propelled anti-aircraft unit created by combining the well-liked and versatile M3 half-track with a M45 Quadmount equipped with four .50 caliber M2 Browning heavy machine guns. It was effective as a counter against low-flying aircraft, but with the advances in aeronautics, it was eventually adapted as a fire support platform. It proved devastatingly effective against infantry, eventually earning the nickname Meat Chopper. The 3 550 units built and converted remained in service for a decade, until 1953.

70 were sent to the Free French as lend lease. Unlike their American counterparts 22ème Groupe Colonial de F.T.A the air defense component of the 2e Blindée was equipped with Bofors (Fr) and GMC Bofor.
