Artillery is a class of units in Steel Division. This category regroups all towed or self-propelled indirect fire units: mortars, howitzers and MLRSs (multiple launcher rocket systems). A special kind of artillery are the artillery observer units.

Artillery oberserver units don't carry the artillery weapon with them but act as "observers" for artillery that is off-map! Some artillery oberserver units are even unarmed. Any artillery oberserver unit can only call in 3 strikes. After that, unarmed units are completely useless. To call in a strike, the artillery oberserver units must be withing range of its target and stay withing range until the strike commences! The flying units Beo.Storch (173mm), Beo.Storch (210mm) and Beo.Storch (600mm) are very vulnerable to enemy dogfighters! Deploying these dangerous and expensive units will most likeply provoke the opponent to deploy his dogfighters if available.
