97-ya Gvard. Strelkovy

97-ya Gvard. Strelkovy is a Soviet Mechanized division in Steel Division II Nemesis Division series. Having fought and escaped several encirclements by the skin of their teeth, the 97th Guards Rifle Division received its honorary “Guards” title after Stalingrad. The formation saw further action during Kursk and in Ukraine. Aggressive reconnaissance gave the division advance warning of the impeding Wehrmacht counter-offensive against the Sandomierz bridgehead.

Reinforced with numerous ZiS-2 and ZiS-3 AT guns, the 97th Guards Rifle Division can also count on a brigade’s worth of T-34/76 and T-34/85 tanks. IS-2 heavy tanks provide additional armor to blunt an enemy assault. The formation lacks heavy artillery compared to other Red Army divisions, and the overstretched Red Air Force can only offer a token amount of air support.

The 97th Guards Rifle Division is a powerful battlegroup, excellent as a counter-puncher, thanks to its extensive array of tanks and AT guns.

The division has an ace unit, the T-34/85 obr. 1943 Oskin, replacing one card of T-34 obr. 1943 tanks.
The division has one of the most powerful offmap artillery in the game in the form of the GPA KAO (132mm). This rocket barrage is extremely effective as a single concentrated barrage, likely to kill everything within its radius, or as an area denial weapon, as the "Long Duration" strike lasts around 9 minutes to fire all its shots
