52. Sicherungs-Division z.b.V. is a German Infantry division in Steel Division II: Burning Baltics. Reconstituted several times over, the 52. Sicherungs-Division zur besonderen Verwendung (52nd Security Division for special purposes) was a security division earmarked for anti-partisan duties on the Eastern Front. This formation became a reserve HQ in the Baltics, with various amalgamated local units under its command.
It supported Panzerverband Strachwitz during Operation Doppelkopf, providing much-needed boots on the ground.
As an infantry-focused battlegroup, various soldier squads can be deployed: Lithuanian (TAR) volunteers, Latvian SS troops, battle-hardened instructors, Fallschirmjäger veterans, and security units. Soviet war booty is also found in its ranks, including several types of captured AT guns.
A phase-locked battlegroup, more powerful units in the form of Panther and Jagdpanzer IV tanks can only be used during the later stages of a battle.
The 52. Sicherungs-Division z.b.V might start with some limitations but grows in power on the battlefield.
52. Sicherungs-Division z.b.V. shows some similarities with the Korück 559, including the variety of troops and units on offer, but differs in being phase-locked. As such, it is weaker in Phase A before becoming increasingly stronger in Phase B (thanks to Soviet captured equipment) before witnessing a giant boost in armored firepower in Phase C with the arrival of Panzerbrigade 103.
