5. Gebirgsjäger is an Axis C-rated Infantry division in Steel Division II, available in the Tribute to the Liberation of Italy pack. The 5. Gebirgsjäger was part of the renowned German Alpine troops - elite soldiers focused on mountain warfare. Having established themselves well on Crete, the Eastern Front, and Monte Cassino, the formation proved its worth again during combat at Gemmano - the Monte Cassino of the Adriatic - in the summer of 1944.
Lavishly equipped with SMGs and well trained, the battlegroup’s Gebirgsjäger infantry (including support weapons) feature the Raider trait. For much-needed firepower, the 5. Gebirgsjäger calls on captured Italian equipment, such as the Autoblinda 41 armored car, Semovente assault guns, ... Airpower is also substantial, with Hs-129 tank busters and Bf-110 heavy fighters flying top cover.
The 5. Gebirgsjäger relies on the quality of its infantry, support, and air forces, as the lack of AA and AT units is noticeable on the battlefield.
