4a Alpina "Monterosa" is an Axic C-rated Infantry division in Steel Division II, available in the Tribute to the Liberation of Italy pack. Made up of Italian veterans loyal to Mussolini, and a lot of more or less willing recruits, the RSI 4a Divisione Alpini “Monterosa” was originally formed as a mountain division. However, with a very high desertion rate, the formation wasn’t considered reliable enough for direct combat and was mostly used in an anti-partisan role.
All of the battlegroup’s Alpini infantry have mountain training and are equipped with German weaponry, but a sizable portion also features the Disheartened trait. Armored firepower is composed of older Italian medium tanks, with a few “heavy” P-26/40 available. Several dual-purpose 90mm guns can be fielded, while RSI air support is substantial, including SM.79 Sparviero light bombers, C.205V and G.55 fighters, as well as Luftwaffe planes.
The 4a Divisione Alpini “Monterosa” focuses on quantity over quality, with the air force making up for the lack of heavy ground forces.
