3-ya VDV

3-ya VDV is a Soviet Infantry division in Steel Division II: Black Sunday. The 3-ya VDV could count on battle-hardened ex-paratroopers to form the bulk of its force, as this special formation was made up of the disbanded 8th Airborne Corps. Performing no combat airdrop, this division did experience almost continuous fighting after its inception in 1942. As such, 3-ya VDV crossed the Romanian frontier in the summer of 1944 and successfully assaulted some of the most heavily defended Axis strongpoints.

A large part of the infantry found in the unique 3-ya VDV, including the Desantniki troops, features the Raider trait, allowing them to function without penalties behind enemy lines. Critical support to these elite soldiers is given by a SU-76 regiment, as well as assault engineers to clear any fortified position.

The 3-ya VDV is an experienced division, its veteran soldiers excelling on the battlefield as a quick and hard-hitting infantry force.
