1 Piechoty "Tadeusza Kościuszki" is a Polish Infantry division in Steel Division II: Death on the Vistula. The 1st Polish “Tadeusza Kościuszki” Infantry Division was formed in 1943 as part of the Soviet-controlled Polish People’s Army and was comprised of Polish communists in exile, POW’s and liberated civilians. This formation was kept in reserve at the start of Bagration, only to be unleashed in the drive on Poland in the latter stages of the offensive.
In theory a regular Soviet rifle division, the “Tadeusza Kościuszki” is supported by several independent formations normally found on a corps level, including separate tank and reconnaissance regiments, and additional anti-tank troops. Scavenged German infantry weapons, such as MG-42’s and Panzerfausts, are a common sight within its ranks.
The 1st Polish “Tadeusza Kościuszki” Infantry Division can form a strong, reinforced battlegroup being able to both attack and defend with relative ease.
