Even before the deployment of the 6-pdr anti guns, United Kingdom predicted that the 6-pdr will eventually be obsolete due to the increasing German Armor. The successor anti-tank gun was late 1940 and was completed in late 1941. These entered active service in 1943. These were used in Royal Artillery anti-tank regiments along with counterparts units. While some tanks were modified to carry 17-pdr.
